Our Vision
Ascend with us to High Places as we abide in a Christ-centered yoga practice that empowers wholehearted worship with our breath, mind, and movements in our daily peaks, valleys and everything in-between.
Our aim is to encourage and refresh others in their journey toward the High Places of transformation, victory, and union with Christ through the modality of yoga.
Where Does Our Name Come From
“High place”, or “high places”, in a biblical context refers to place(s) of worship.
The name began before the idea of a website or a yoga business was in place after reading a book called Hind’s Feet On High Places by Hannah Hurnard. A friend had given the book to Shannon and then Shannon encouraged Nancy to read it as well. After reading the book, Shannon and Nancy knew it would be a story they would come back to again and again.
Shannon and Nancy both prayed and reflected on a name that would embody a Christ-centered practice. As the list grew, one night Shannon looked on her bookshelf and picked up Hind’s Feet On High Places. She was hit with all the feelings she initially experienced as Much-Afraid became Grace and Glory in the Kingdom of Love.
High Places Yoga began to develop, friends agreed to collaborate, and family helped and listened to this tiny seed of an idea blossom and grow. We hope that you find High Places Yoga a place where you can come as you are on your mat and worship our Lord and Savior with like-minded individuals.
The Lord God is my strength, and He has made my feet like hinds’ feet, and makes me walk on my high places.”
Habakkuk 3:19 (NASB)
Here is a quote from the book that spoke to Shannon and Nancy :
‘The High Places’, answered the Shepherd, ‘are the starting places for the journey down to the lowest place in the world. When you have hinds’ feet and can go leaping on the mountains and skipping on the hills, you will be able, as I am, to run down from the heights in gladdest self-giving and then go up to the mountains again. You will be able to mount to the High Places swifter than eagles, for it is only up on the High Places of Love that anyone can receive the power to pour themselves down in an utter abandonment of self-giving.’

Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless human life, in His divine miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith apart from works, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
